Contracts in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines and Taiwan. Purchased 45% stake in third largest Mexican insurer in 1995: Seguros Monterey. Launched Meximed HMO with Seguros Monterey in 1997 covering 500 commuter employees working across border to date. Signed letter of intent during summer 98 to purchase 49% of Argentina’s largest HMO: Asistencia Medica Social Argentina SA

Introducing international physician network in 1999 to Bluecard Worldwide plan which contracts with 106 hospitals in 37 countries. Program introduced in 1997. Countries with most hospital contracts are Germany, United Kingdom, France, Japan and Italy.
 
Cigna International

Operations currently exist in the U.K., Chile, Spain, Honk Kong, Philippines, Guatemala, India and Brazil, with further expansion projected in Latin America, Europe and Asia. They also manage a large, multi-national expatriate business for U.S. citizens living and working outside the United States.$200 million in International supplemental health insurance revenues. Wall Street Journal reported rumor that Cigna is negotiating to purchase an interest in a large union health care system in Argentina. Their 1999 international revenues are projected to exceed $1.3 billion.  The business strategy is to improve profitability in the existing operations and seek growth where appropriate, build or acquire businesses with the potential for substantial growth and expansion in a handful of key global markets.Recent Press Releases: CIGNA International Gains Approval to Offer Health Care Consulting and Administrative Services in India.
