HMO Commercial Pharmacy Expense PMPM (1998-2000E)

Respondents were asked to indicate their pharmacy expenses per-member, per-month (PMPM) for commercial enrollees only. As shown in the figure below, these is clear evidence that HMOs anticipate significantly higher pharmacy expenditures in the near future.

For the 101 HMOs that gave data for all three requested periods, only eight HMOs had commercial pharmacy expenses PMPM of $23.01 or more in 1998, while 46 HMOs projected this amount for 2000, representing an increase of over 80%.
